Product Description
ASME SA-193/SA-193M B16 High-Temperature Bolt - Overview
B16 bolts, within the American Standard ASME SA-193/SA-193M specifications, are designed using alloy steel and stainless steel materials specifically tailored for high-temperature applications in pressure vessels, valves, flanges, and pipe fittings.
The chemical composition of SA 193B7M grade bolt material closely mirrors that of the B7 grade. However, it undergoes a quenching and tempering process to achieve a lower hardness. Consequently, their tensile strength is comparatively lower than that of B7 grade bolts. These bolts find extensive use in stress corrosion cracking environments, particularly in floating head heat exchangers.
SA-1942HM nuts share similarities with 2H nuts and are recommended for use in stress corrosion cracking environments.
Primarily intended for high-temperature conditions ranging from 400°C to 595°C, SA-193B16 grade bolts are constructed from chromium molybdenum vanadium alloy steel. While possessing mechanical strength similar to the B7 grade, B16 bolts retain their strength remarkably well at elevated temperatures. They also exhibit reduced relaxation at high temperatures.
There are two main categories of nuts that complement B16 grade bolts: Level 4 and Level 7. These chromium molybdenum steel nuts, treated for overheating conditions, are suitable for operating in temperatures as low as -48°C, making them viable in sub-zero environments. It's important to note that B16 grade bolts are typically used in conjunction with grade 7 (or 4) nuts due to their analogous characteristics.
American-manufactured ASME SA193-B16 full-thread studs align with these specifications and are engineered for high-temperature applications, offering enhanced strength and resilience in demanding environments.
