Product Description
High-strength screw connections offer various advantages, including simple construction, excellent stress performance, replaceable components, resistance to fatigue, and stability under dynamic loads, making them a promising method for connections. Examples of high-strength screws include B7 High-Strength Screws, SA193-B7 High-Strength Screws, and those conforming to ASTM standards.
These screws employ a specially designed wrench to tighten the nut, creating substantial and controlled tension on the screw. Simultaneously, the nut and backing plate generate an equal level of pressure on the connected parts. This preload generates significant friction along the surfaces of the connected components. When the axial force remains lower than this frictional force, the components will not slip, ensuring the integrity of the connection. This principle underscores high-strength screw connections.
The effectiveness of high-strength screw connections hinges on the friction between the contact surfaces of the connecting components, preventing their sliding. To ensure adequate friction on these surfaces, it is essential to augment the clamping force of the components and elevate the friction coefficient of their contact surfaces. Achieving sufficient clamping force between components is realized by applying tension to the screws. Consequently, high-strength steel is employed for the screws, hence the term "high-strength screw connections."
The bearing capacity of high-strength screw connections is significantly influenced by the friction coefficient. Experimental data indicates that the friction coefficient is chiefly influenced by the contact surface's form and the component material. To boost the friction coefficient of contact surfaces, construction often involves treatments such as sandblasting and wire brushing within the connection range of components, adhering to standards like the American ASTM SA193-B7 for high-strength screws.
